About Norrath 1999

Original painting of a late-night desk with an old CRT monitor and fantasy dreams rising like clouds

Norrath 1999 is an independent EverQuest lore archive. EverQuest’s story is scattered across thousands of in-game books, NPC dialogue, quest text, manuals, official articles and two decades of community research. We gather those pieces and retell them as full stories: who a god or hero is, where they came from, why they matter, where you met them in the game, and what they left behind.

Where the lore comes from

Every lore chapter lists the sources it was written from, right under the text. We cite Allakhazam and EQ Resource first where they support a fact. We never invent lore to fill a gap. Where the record is thin, the page says so. See the A–Z index of every lore entry or start in the Lore Library. The nostalgia pages (history, races and classes, zones, culture) are here too, as a way back in.

Norrath 1999 is run by Johnston Ventures LLC. Questions or corrections: contact us.

From the site’s founder

My first character was Jnais, a Vah Shir shaman, on the Fennin Ro server.

I was a high schooler back then, and EverQuest was my escape.

I still think about the Planes of Power progression on live, raiding with Caelum Infinitum and The Mystical Order, and the late-night grinding sessions in the elemental planes.

I ended up playing EverQuest for about 20 years. Norrath 1999 is my way of keeping a little of that world lit for anyone else who was there.
